Malaysia is one of the most significant countries in the Far East, and is located on two different geographical regions – the western part is located in Peninsular Malaysia, and the Eastern part makes up the Malaysian part of the island of Borneo. Malaysia’s population is diverse, and the country has a history of being occupied by several western colonists, much like the rest of Southeast Asia. Today, Malaysia is one of the most developed nations in the continent, and is a very attractive tourist destination. The capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, is a sprawling metropolis that is well-structured and seems to be busy all the time. The city is home to several attractions, the most iconic of which are the Petronas Towers, twin structures which were at one time the world’s tallest free standing buildings. The city is also home to some of the largest shopping malls in the world, an amazing aquarium, museums, and historical sites. Just outside the city are the famous Batu Caves, where you can find an impressive Hindu Temple set in limestone caves. Outside the city of Kuala Lumpur are several interesting places that are well worth visiting. Ride the longest Cable Car in Asia to the Genting Highlands, where you will find an amusement park set in a high elevation; make your way to Mount Kinabalu, which is exceptional for mountaineering and adventure walks; or have a nice day at one of the many hundreds of great beaches the country has to offer!
