Day 1 - UK - Yangon

Mingalabar! – And welcome to Myanmar. A car and driver will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel.

Day 2 - Full Day Highlights Of Yangon (B)

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning sightseeing features the beautiful Kandawgyi Lake, Botataung Pagoda, which is hollow and through which you can walk and see many ancient relics and artifacts. Continue to Yangon downtown area and from there we walk along the Pansodan street which has many large colonial buildings which are still in use. It is also interesting to see the sidewalk markets including those selling old books and magazines dated from the 1960’s up to the present. And then we will go to Wahdan jetty where we can see the boats come from the Delta and see many goods loaded and unloaded. The hustle and bustle of the people and the ships create a very colorful experience. Afternoon sightseeing includes colossal reclining Buddha Chaukhtatkyi, and National Museum, filled with artifact and cultural exhibits of Myanmar. And then we will have a quick sightseeing visit in China town before going to the famous Scott Market, a sprawling complex built in 1926 and noted for its variety of handicrafts and other items which provides an excellent opportunity for a shopping spree. Finish our tour with a visit to the awe-inspiring Shwedagon Pagoda which towers over all of Yangon. It is perhaps the most beautiful pagoda complex in all of Asia and is one sight that no visitor to Myanmar should not miss Transfer.

Day 3 - Flight To Nyaung U, Discover Bagan (B)

Packed breakfast from hotel. Transfer to Yangon airport to take a flight to Bagan (ETD 0630 / ETA 0750). Arrival Bagan, we begin our visit to one of Asia’s most stunning archeological destinations with its more than 2,000 pagodas doting the plains along the legendary Ayerwaddy River. See the bustling Nyaung Oo local market and then some of Bagan’s most distinctive pagodas including Shwezigon, a prototype of later Myanmar stupas and Wetkyi-in- Gubyaukgyi, a 13th century ‘cave temple with fine wall paintings. One of the most outstanding is the magnificent Ananda Pagoda, one of the most revered pagodas in all Myanmar and containing four tall standing Buddhas within. Afternoon sightseeing highlights Sulamani Temple built by King Narapatisithu; Dhammayangyi Temple, a massive later period temple with the finest brickwork in Bagan, and Thatbyinnyu Temple which towers above other monuments of Bagan. We can also visit a Thanaka museum, dedicated to the tree bark and root of the Thanaka tree used in making a fragrant white colored paste which Myanmar women wear for skin beauty and protection from the sun. Visitors can learn how to make and apply the Thanaka paste. As the sun goes down we will be at one of the ideal temple top viewing sites selected by our guide.

Day 4 - Scenic Boat Ride To Village In The Middle Of River, Explore Local Crafts (B)

After breakfast, we will go to the Ayerwaddy river for an enjoyable 30 minute boat ride to Kyun Thiri Island (in the middle of the river). Here we stop and make a visit to this typical farming village, interacting with the villagers and observing their ways of life. We will also visit a monastery where we are served local tea and snacks. Return to Bagan by boat in time for lunch ( customer pay ) In the early afternoon take free time to relax before we go to see a small lacquer ware crafts shop in Phawsaw Village where we can observe the process of making these beautiful pieces. You can also try your own hand at making some. In the evening enjoy horse drawn carriage ride to one of the sunset temple chosen by our guide. Overnight at a hotel in Bagan.

Day 5 - Flight To Mandalay, Explore The Highlights  (B)

Breakfast from hotel. Transfer to airport in time for flight to Mandalay. Continue to Sagaing, a former capital of the Shan kingdom in the 14th century, lies across and slightly downriver from Mandalay and there are many interesting stupas scattered over Sagaing Hill. We stop by the most renowned nunnery in Sagaing to observe moments of Buddhist nuns spiritual life. Later we will visit another former royal capital, Inwa which was founded in 1364 and which lasted nearly 400 years as a royal capital. Highlights include the ' leaning tower of Ava', Maha Aungmye Bonzan, a brick-and-stucco monastery, and the elegant teakwood monastery Bagaya Kyaung. Lastly, travel to the ancient royal capital of Amarapura. Here we will visit Mahagandayon monastery, which is a school for young monks, and the nearby U Bein bridge. It is more than two centuries old and at 1.2 km is the longest teakwood span in the world which best visit at sunset.

Day 6 - Visit Mingun And Highlights Of Mandalay (B)

We will go to Mandalay jetty where we take a short and pleasant ride upriver to Mingun, the site of what would have been the world's largest pagoda had not King Bodawpaya died in 1819 thus halting all further work. Later an earthquake in 1838 split the monument and reduced it to partial rubble. Nonetheless, the mammoth base of the unfinished pagoda is still a very impressive sight as we approach from the river. Nearby we can also visit the Mingun Bell, moved from the zedi after the earthquake and now hung in a new shrine building. It is said to be the largest hanging un-cracked bell in the world. Return to Mandalay. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Mandalay includes the highly revered Mahamuni Pagoda; a gold leaf hammering craftshop, Shwenandaw Monastery, noted for its exquisite wood carvings; Kuthodaw Pagoda, renowned as the World's largest book for its 729 stone slabs containing the entire Buddhist scriptures, and continue to Mandalay Hill for a view over the city and Ayeyarwaddy River.

Day 7 - Flight To Heho, Full Day Sightseeing At Inle Lake By Boat  (B)

Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Bagan airport for flight to Heho (ETD 0840 / ETA 0910) , after arrival at Heho airport we drive to magical Inle Lake. Situated 900 meters above sea level and 22 km long by 11 km wide, this large shallow lake is in an idyllic setting surrounded by mountains and is home to the Intha people, renowned for their floating gardens and the unique one-legged rowing style of their fishermen. We travel by small private boat on the lake, visiting the famous Paung Daw Oo pagoda, with its five famous Buddha images (four of which are carried in great ceremony around the lake during the Paung Daw Oo festival) and also nearby Inpawkhone Village where, in houses on stilts, we see traditional silk weaving with hand looms and the processing of lotus blossoms as they are made into beautiful fabric. After our lunch time break on the lake, visit traditional crafts-making such as blacksmithing, cheroot (local cigar) rolling, and boat making. Then enjoy a boat ride through the Kaylar village observing the many houses on stilts and the ways of life. We will see the floating gardens up close, then on to the ‘Ngaphae Chaung Monastery’ which is an interesting old traditional monastery on the lake. Go to our hotel and overnight at Inle Lake. Day 8 - Visit Indein (B)

Breakfast at the hotel. Today we continue our Inle Lake sightseeing with a visit to Indain - a very pleasurable experience as you travel by your boat up a small scenic creek for about 25 minutes to reach the village of Indain. Here, on a small hill are small pagodas, half hidden in the underbrush. In the afternoon return back to your hotel and the rest of the day is free. Overnight at a hotel in Inle Lake  

Day 9 - Flight To Thandwe, At Leisure By The Beach (B)

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to airport in Heho for the flight to Thandwe (ETD 1000 / ETA 1100). On arrival, shared transfer to hotel.

DAY 10 & 11: MIRISSA

Early morning leave for whale watching with picketed Breakfast. Whale Watching, during December to April swarms of Sperm whales, Fin whales and Blue whales can be sighted swimming about freely the sapphire waters. You can witness the most extraordinary sites of these creatures in Mirissa and Kalpitiya. Arrive and check in at Hotel. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight at Mandara Resort, Mirissa, or Similar. DAY 12: MIRISSA - COLOMBO

After breakfast proceed to Mirissa via Kosgoda. Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery, in the south, established in 1981, was one of the earliest attempts to safeguard local turtles from extinction. Managed by the Sri Lanka Wildlife Protection Society, the hatchery offers a wildlife experience of a different sort. Colombo, is Sri Lanka’s commercial capital and major port. A fine amalgamation of all the hues and cultures within this paradise isle. This chic metropolitan brings together the many facets of this island nation.
