The island of Bali is a province in Indonesia and also includes a few other smaller neighboring islands. It is located between the islands of Java and Lombok and is home to over 4 million people. It is where much of Indonesia’s Hindu minority lives. The capital of Bali is Denpasar in the southern part of the island. Also known as the Island of the Gods, Bali’s landscape consists of hills, mountains, rugged coastlines, sandy beaches, rice terraces and volcanic hillsides which all contribute to the beauty of the island. As a tourist destination that is popular the world over, it has world class surfing and diving and many cultural, historical and archeological attractions. There is a range of hotels and accommodation whether it’s a home stay run by a local family, a a five star beach resort or villa, and also restaurants and spas to choose from. It has won multiple travel awards and has something to offer to everyone who visits here. Although extremely popular, it is possible to find some peace and quiet on the island.
The tourist season in Bali is usually during August and September and again during Christmas and New Year, this is when the island is most crowded. Domestic tourists from other parts of Indonesia tend to visit during national holidays. During early April, late June and late September many of the tourists are from Australia as these are the school holidays for them but other than these months the island is surprisingly quiet and is a great time to get discounts on things such as accommodation. Some of Bali’s main tourist attractions include Kuta for its beach, Legian and Seminyak and the east coast town Sanur.
Bali is not only a place, it’s a mood, an aspiration, a state of mind. Bali is a paradise.
